As far as pleasant surprises go, Nikki Dixon has been that and more for the Milton Lady Eagles. A late transfer last summer from Lassiter High School, Dixon has made an immediate impact as a junior for region champ Milton.
“It’s just her attitude. She’s one of the fiercest competitors I’ve had the pleasure to coach,” said head coach Craig Bennett. “She brings a whole new desire and intensity. She has changed our mental attitude more so than anything.”
At 5-feet-10-inches, Dixon is equally adept running the point, playing on the wing, or posting up a smaller defender, according to Bennett. Her versatility on the offensive end has allowed Dixon to lead the team with 17.3 points per game.
Dixon’s play on defense, however, is what elicits the most excitement from her coach. Bennett said Dixon brings a wealth of athleticism, basketball IQ, and instincts when it comes to playing lock-down defense. She averages four steals per game, also tops on the team.
“Just her knowledge, her instincts, knowing the game,” said Bennett. “She’s kind of the focal point of our press.”
Off the court, Bennett said Dixon has made just as big an impression on her peers.
“Just a great personality. A very happy-go-lucky kid,” said Bennett. “Everybody loves her to death.”
Congrats nikki, keep up the good work...
